This is not my favorite time of year as the dreaded tax time draws near. I am no were ready to get my done. I will be working most of the day tomorrow in order to get all my paperwork in order to give to the accountant. I am hoping that I will get some money back this year especially since this is the first year I will be without my two deductions. They both left the house, one married and one in the Marines, and I cannot deduct them at all this year. Just the wife and I left at home and no house mortgage interest to claim so I am concerned I mght have to pay them instead. Nothing I like less than paying out at tax time.
With the state of the economy we all have to cut corners somewhere so the wife and I are not eating out near as often as we have been. And when we do we are starting to look at the prices a little closer. She is being a little more careful in her selection at the grocery store and tryiong to remember that she is only cooking for two now instead of four. I can attest to the fact that that is not always easy. Food can get wasted pretty fast if you are not careful. I have found that the Living on a Dime e-book has helped to conserve the spending habits that we have so easily abused over the last few “good” years.
I am fortunate that my job is pretty secure at least as fasr as I can see. However, I do live in Michigan and the job situations here change as fast as the weather does. I can live on the fish I catch but it is nice to have some potatoes and veggies with them when we do eat. No, we are doing just great and have but a good emergency fund away for that rainy day if it does come and we are learning how to follow the Thrifty Living material. When you combine Living On a Dime and Thrifty Living the savings adds up quickly.
Have a great day and keep your chin up God loves you inspite of the fact that it is tax time.
