As the days and weeks roll on in our economic downturn I will be sharing more and more information on what you can do to personally save and live on less money. Here are just a few simple ways to save money.

  1. If you smoke—QUIT—you will save approximately $5.00 per day. That adds up to $1,825 each year. Now if you put that in the bank every week it will add up fast. Much better than putting into your lungs anyway.

  1. Stop drinking expensive beverages like soda pop and drink more water. But stay away from bottled water unless you bottle it yourself. We have a purifier on our sink and we fill up our own plastic water bottles that have passed the safety check. The savings are quite extensive.

  1. Do you pay a monthly fee for a storage building just to put the stuff you never use in? It costs you somewhere between $50 and $80 each month doesn’t it? On the conservative side that is $600 per year (or more). Why not sell that stuff you don’t use anyway on E-bay or at your garage sale. Put the money you make into your savings.

  1. Instead of going out to eat dinner (or supper depending where you live) why not try breakfast or lunch instead. They are half the price of a dinner and just as filling. Oh, and by the way why not just eat at home more often instead of going out at all. You could always have a candle light dinner with your spouse and even spice up the night as well.

We will add more savings tips as we go along but if you want to get it sooner than later click on Live on Less Money to get an immediate download of 100 ways to save.
